The better God is known the more He is trusted. Those who know Him to be a God of infinite wisdom will trust Him further than they can see Him [JOB 35:14 ] . Those who know Him to be a God of almighty power will trust Him when creature-confidence fails and they have nothing else to trust to [II CHRONICLES 20:12 ] . Those who know Him to be a God of infinite grace and goodness will trust Him though He slay them [JOB 13:15 ] . “ But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: w hereunto He called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ” - II THESSALONIANS 2:13-14 [KJV] It has been said that election is not salvation and it is not our Savior. Those are true words, but while election is not salvation or the Savior, there is no salvation and there would be no Savior apart from election. The Son of God is said by the Father to be, “ mine Elect,” and He is the Savior of “ a remnant according to the election of grace” [ROMANS 11:5 ] . The divine rescue of sinners from the dunghill of iniquity and the raising of them to the heights of glory by Christ and His substitutionary, justice-satisfying death and resurrection is to be traced to the Lord’s eternal, sovereign purpose of grace. "For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith." -I JOHN 5:4 [KJV]   If we are to be saved our faith must gain the day; we must have a faith that shall triumph over death and hell and gain a glorious conquest over every internal and external and infernal foe. This is just the state, then, in which the matter stands: we must either conquer or be conquered; we must either gain the day and be crowned with an immortal crown of glory, or else sink in the strife, defeated by sin and Satan. But none of God's people will be defeated in the fight; and yet they often seem, as it were, to escape defeat by the very skin of their teeth; yet faith will sooner or later gain the day, for Jesus is its finisher as well as its author.
