THE WONDER WORKING GOD!

“ Who is like unto Thee, O LORD, among the gods? who is like Thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders ?” -Exodus 15:11 [KJV] One of the saddest consequences of that popular "gospel" of today is the utter lack of anything wondrous about it. But when salvation is made to be no more than something the sinner does for himself, it is not surprising. Where is the wonder in a salvation that consists in nothing more than walking an aisle, repeating the sinner's prayer, and making my decision? That does not require the grace or the power of God. But the salvation of a real sinner demands real grace. And that can only come from the God of all grace, the Lord Jesus Christ. The salvation that is of the Lord is a wonder working miracle. It raises dead men to life, gives them faith in Christ, and makes all things to become new. A man made salvation has nothing wondrous about it because man does it all. But that salvation that God alone performs is a grea...

Our Portion and Eternal Inheritance

One who is born of God has the Lord as his portion and inheritance (Romans 8:17) . He is thankful for who He is and what he has; for in Christ he has " all things " that are worth having. Having food and clothing and believing friends, he is content. He brought nothing into this world and will carry nothing out (I Timothy 6:6-8) . Earthly possessions, honors, and property have no value after death; but to be forgiven of sin and made alive in Christ is the highest prize and glory (Ephesians 1:7) . As soon as a person really learns, believes, and embraces the grace of Christ, like Moses, " he esteems even the reproach of Christ greater than the riches of this world " (Hebrews 11:24-26) . But they that seek after riches and worldly honor fall into many temptations, which drown men in destruction and misery. This craving for the world's wealth and approval has caused many to depart from the faith and pierce themselves through with many sorrows (I Timot...

Thought for the Day ~ 11 August, 2025 A.D.

"As sure as ever you believe on the Savior and go to Him, you were predestinated to do so from all eternity, and your faith is the great mark and evidence that you are chosen of God." -copied

Great Encouragement in Christ JESUS ~ 11 August, 2025 A.D.

Grace taught our wandering feet To tread the Heavenly road And new supplies each hour we meet While traveling home to God.   ‘Twas grace that wrote each name In God’s eternal book ‘Twas grace that gave us to the Lamb Who all our burdens took.   Grace saved us from the foe Grace taught us how to pray And God will ne’er His grace forego Till we have won the day.   May grace, free grace, inspire Our souls with strength divine May every thought to God aspire And grace in service shine.   Grace all the work shall crown Through everlasting days It lays in Heaven the topmost stone And well deserves the praise!   -old Gospel hymn, I Love Thy Kingdom       NONE BUT CHRIST   Have you any other rock but Christ?  I do not ask you whether you have a feeling of enjoyment of it.  I know you will rejoice in Jesus when the Holy Spirit enables you.  But have you any other refuge?  Can you go into eternity, resting upon any other r...

LET's BE STRONG ~ IN CHRIST COMPLETE!

"My son, be strong in the grace that is in CHRIST JESUS." -II Timothy 2:1 [KJV] St. Paul had known what it was to be strong in vain confidence and self-righteous hopes: to be strong in rage and persecution against Christ and His people. But his soul had severely smarted for that. Now Christ had taken possession of his heart. He was all in all to him. He thought he could never enough recommend Him and His grace to his dear friends. O let us imitate him.  (1st.) The grace that is in Christ Jesus. Because of our low, mean, scanty thoughts of His rich grace, we are low in courage against our enemies, and weak in the comforts of our souls. Know, there is much more in this, than many weak Christians suppose, who unscripturally think Christ came into the world, to procure some grace for us, that He puts it into us, as men do seeds in a hot-bed, but leaves us to be faithful to it, and so to secure our own salvation. What kind of grace is this? Not saving grace.  If this...

The ALPHA and OMEGA of our Salvation

"By faith, Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain." -Hebrews 11:4 [KJV] The Holy Ghost hath here marked down, by His servant the apostle, in the very first offerings which we read of in the bible, the vast importance of faith; by which it most decidedly proves, that it is faith which gives efficacy to all the offerings of His creatures. Faith in what? Nay—there can be but one view of faith throughout the word of God; namely, faith in the promised seed to bruise the serpent's head.  This was the first promise which came in upon the fall. Every offering, therefore, offered unto God, unless it had an eye to this, became offensive. Cain did not offer the first-fruits of the ground with an eye of faith in Christ—hence, he was the first deist the world ever knew. Abel, by faith, offered the firstlings of his flock with an eye to Jesus—and hence the testimony that God respected his offering. What a striking evidence is here, my soul, of the vast...

More Than Conquerors in Christ JESUS

"They shall come with weeping, and with supplications will I lead them: I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters in a straight way, wherein they shall not stumble: for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is My firstborn." -Jeremiah 31:9 [KJV] Oh how much is needed to bring the soul to its only rest and centre! What trials and afflictions; what furnaces, floods, rods, and strokes, as well as smiles, promises, and gracious drawings! What pride and self to be brought out of! What love and blood to be brought unto! What lessons to learn of the dreadful evil of sin! What lessons to learn of the freeness and fulness of salvation! What sinkings in self! What risings in Christ!  What guilt and condemnation on account of sin; what self-loathing and self-abasement; what distrust of self; what fears of falling; what prayers and desires to be kept; what clinging to Christ; what looking up and unto His divine Majesty, as faith views Him at the right hand of the Fa...
