GOD WITH US

"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for T hou art with me; T hy rod and T hy staff they comfort me." -P SALM 23:4 [KJV] Death, the gaunt king of terrors; Death, who with his scythe in his resistless hand, mows down whole millions of the human race; Death, who awaits his victims at every corner; Death, that must soon lay you and me low in the grave, casts a shadow wherever he comes. He visits the sick room, and casts a shadow there; he hangs over the cradle, and his shadow falls on the infant's face; he comes in the Indian letter from abroad, or with the black seal and mourning envelope put into our hand at home; and these tidings or these tokens cast a deep shadow over our hearts. Indeed, where is the place where death does not cast his shadow? where the house where this shade has never fallen? In fact, he never comes without it. He is "the last enemy;" he is the final fulfilment of the original curse.

Weekend Gospel message to follow for All Hands (20-22DEC19) Heads-Up --- Please find enclosed encouragement in SO GREAT SALVATION by the perfect and finished work of our Lord Jesus Christ in saving poor, needy and wretched sinners by His sovereign free grace - God's unmerited favor - from their sins and from Hell: CHRIST DID NOT TRAVAIL IN VAIN Travail is a commonly used word describing the birth pains of a woman; it includes that time from the onset of labor to the birth of a child. The word travail is also used with reference to our Lord’s sufferings and death upon the cross. “ He shall see of the travail of His soul, and shall be satisfied” (Isaiah 53:11), but His labor was not in vain. He did not endure untold agonies, only to be grieved and disappointed with the outcome. If one for w

GREAT ENCOURAGEMENT IN CHRIST

David, a man after God's own heart gives us some very inspired instruction and direction in Psalm 37:1; when he says, "fret not." Surely, David writes to us with the experience of his own heart trouble, for he had much to fret about. Now, I will be the first to admit that our fallen, sinful nature is prone to fretting and worrying about most everything. Most of us have a worry-wart nature! Fretfulness and worrying are sins of their own punishment. How dreadful it is to lay awake all night worrying. But, David also gives us a sure cure for fretting in the following verses. He gives us a sevenfold cure! 1). TRUST IN THE LORD [PSALM 37:3 ] . Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ will cure fretting! When we trust Him to provide all our physical and spiritual needs [MATTHEW 6:33; P HILIPPIANS 4:19 ] , we find comfort. We don't look to the deeds or strength of the flesh to find our comfort, but to Him alone. We are to trust Him at all times [PSALM 62:8 ] .
