Our Compassionate & Faithful High Priest



"...Who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that He Himself also is compassed with infirmity" -Hebrews 5:2 [KJV]


Thanks be unto God for our compassionate and faithful High Priest, Jesus Christ (Hebrews 2:17). Our blessed Saviour knows our frame; He knows that we are but sinful dust (Psalm 103:13-14). But in spite of all that we are (Psalm 39:5) and all that we have done (Romans 3:23) the Lord is longsuffering and compassionate toward His children (II Peter 3:9).

So much that He loves the unlovely (Romans 5:8), so much that Christ justifies the ungodly (Romans 4:5), so much that the Redeemer died to save sinners (Romans 5:6). We read that His compassions fail not and are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22). We read when He saw a multitude of sinners as sheep that were scattered having no shepherd, He was moved with compassion (Matthew 9:36). What a blessed Shepherd the Lord has provided for us (Psalm 23).

God ordained Authority: Doctrine of the Lesser Magistrate

The Lesser Magistrate Doctrine  teaches that when the superior or higher ranking civil authority makes unjust/immoral law, policy, or court opinion – the lower or lesser ranking civil authority has both the God-given right  and duty  to refuse obedience to that superior authority; and if necessary, actively resist the superior authority. The doctrine was first formalized by Christian men in Magdeburg, Germany in 1550.  The lesser magistrate doctrine is rooted in the historic Christian doctrine of interposition.  Interposition   is where one steps into the gap – placing themselves in between the oppressor and his intended victim. Interposition can take place verbally or physically.  The law of God is the objective standard to which all men and all governments of men are accountable.
