Encouragement in our LORD Jesus Christ to follow

Ten Things I Know about God’s People

1. We are an elect people, chosen unto salvation by God the Father before time had its beginning. "According as He hath chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world" (Ephesians 1:4).

2. We are a redeemed people. "Ye were redeemed...with the precious blood of Christ" (1 Peter 1:18-19). By His death, Christ made satisfaction to divine justice for all the iniquities of His people.

3. We are a regenerated people. "And you hath He quickened who were dead in trespasses and in sins" (Ephesians 2:1). We were born from above by the power of the Holy Spirit.

4. We are a people brought to believe on the Name of the Son of God. "As many as were ordained to eternal life believed" (Acts 13:48).

5. We are a justified people. [1] The origin of our justification is the eternal, sovereign and unchanging grace of God. "...justified freely by His grace" (Romans 3:25). [2] The sole basis upon which God justifies His people is the substitutionary death and resurrection of Christ "...being now justified by His blood" (Romans 5:9). [3] We are "justified by faith without the deeds of the law" (Romans 3:28). Justification is made real to chosen, ransomed sinners when the Spirit of God grants faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Faith believes the record God has given that sinners are justified by the imputed righteousness of Christ alone. [4] The effect of justification is good works. "Faith without works is dead" (James 2:26).

6. We are a preserved people. "For the LORD loveth judgment, and forsaketh not His saints; they are preserved for ever" (Psalm 37:28).

7. We are a tried people. "Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you" (1 Peter 4:12).

8. We are a growing people. "But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ" (2 Peter 3:18). We are growing in our awareness of being ever needful of grace, and we are growing in our knowledge of the person of Christ and His work as Surety, Advocate, Prophet, Priest and King.

9. We are still a sinful people. Paul spoke for every believer when he said, "I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) dwelleth no good thing" (Romans 7:18).

10. We are a people destined to be glorified. "Moreover whom He did predestinate, them He also called: and whom He called, them He also justified: and whom He justified, them He also glorified" (Romans 8:30). Christ has paid our debt, removed our transgressions from us "as far as the east is from the west" (Psalm 103:12) and brought in everlasting righteousness. Someday His people with be with Him and like Him.
