EXCEEDING GREAT & PRECIOUS PROMISES

"Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. " -II Peter 1:4 [KJV] Nothing will yield richer consolation to our own souls, than to:   take the Word of God,   cull out of it every promise  which it contains,   carry them to the throne of grace,   and plead them before God. Pardon for every sin,    peace with God,       holiness of life,          and eternal glory --are all secured to every genuine believer, by the priceless promises of our gracious , immutable  and omnipotent  God.   Yet it is simply impossible to fully comprehend the worth of God's inestimable promises in this life. Who shall fathom the value of deliverance from the torments which are endured by those who are now cast into the lake of fire and brimstone? Or who shall fo...

Thought for the Day ~ 03 September, 2024 A.D.

"Christ did not, by making satisfaction and reconciliation for sin, procure the love and favour of God to his people; for "Christ’s being sent to be the propitiation, His sufferings and death, sacrifice and satisfaction, were the fruit and effect of the love of God, and not the cause of it, John 3:16; Romans 5:8; I John 4:10 .  The reconciliation made by Christ was not to the love of God, which was never lost, but to the justice of God, offended by sin..." -preacher John Gill , A Body of Doctrinal & Practical Divinity , p.492

Tears of Joy and Gratitude unto God Most High

"And he sought where to weep." -Genesis 43:30 [KJV] To weep! What! when he saw his beloved brother Benjamin, and heard that his affectionate aged father was alive and well! Yes: the sight of the one, and the news of the other, created such an ecstasy of joy in his heart, as was too great to bear. He sought where to vent it by tears. O, had one followed good Joseph to his chamber, and heard what passed there between his God and his soul! Methinks I see the dear man fall prostrate, crying out in a flood of grateful, joyful tears, O, what a God do I serve!  What amazing scenes of His providence have opened to my view! How has the Lord appeared graciously in my behalf! how strangely has He exalted me in life! and now, to crown all, and complete my happiness, I see my beloved brother, and hear of the welfare of my honoured father. Doubtless he wept, he prayed; he praised, he rejoiced, he loved, he adored his God, his kind preserver, his bountiful benefactor, his de...

" God is love.  He loved us while sinners, and before satisfaction was rendered.  Satisfaction does not awaken love in the divine mind.  It only renders it consistent with His justice that God should exercise His love towards transgressors of His law." -preacher Charles Hodge , vol.2, p.478

THIS GREAT TRUMPET OF GOSPEL SALVATION!

" The great trumpet shall be blown, and they shall come, who were ready to perish." -Isaiah 27:13 [KJV] One trumpet has been blown, at the giving of the law, on mount Sinai: the voice of it sounded long, and waxed louder and louder. It made even Moses to fear and quake exceedingly, and all the people tremble. Soon, very soon, (who knows but it may be the next moment, in the twinkling of an eye?) the last trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised (I Corinthians 15:52.) Tremendous voice! most solemn sound! The prophet asks, “Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid?” (Amos. 3:6.)   If the alarm of war, and the approach of an enemy should be sounded in the dead of the night, what fear and terror would seize us! Must we hear the sound of the last trumpet, calling us to judgment? Blessed, eternally blessed be our God, for the blowing of this great trumpet: it is the sound of great love: it proclaims salvation—to whom? Even to great ...

CHRIST IS ALL AND IN ALL ~ Colossians 3:11

There is only one thing that matters in our temporal life on this earth, and that one thing is a Person - Christ Jesus our Lord . In the end, everything that we have accomplished will turn out to be emptiness, and everything that we have accumulated will vanish away. But to leave this world holding on to Christ Himself, is to leave this world holding on to the fullness of eternity. In that day, everything will be nothing, and Christ will be ALL ! Lord, teach us to cling to the one thing needful.                                                                        -preacher Gabe Stalnaker
