A Real Redemption!

There are those who believe that Jesus Christ died so man would have a chance of being saved. I do not know that I hate anything more in my soul than to hear someone say that Jesus Christ died so as to make salvation a possibility. It makes Jesus Christ so little, that He should do so much, and after all, only give us a chance of being saved. 

What an insult it is to the Lord Jesus Christ to fix the eternal honor of God in the salvation of sinners upon chance, and that chance to be managed by a poor sinful creature. No, no. 

Thanks be to God for immortal realities and certainties. What is said concerning what Christ has done? He has “put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself” (Hebrews 9:26). 

“He redeemed us from the curse of the law” (Galatians 3:13). 

He has “obtained eternal redemption for us” (Hebrews 9:12). 

“He has redeemed us to God” (Revelation 5:9). 

To the honor of the Eternal Trinity, it is said, not that the redeemed shall have a chance, but that “the redeemed of the LORD shall return, and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their head: they shall obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and mourning shall flee away” (Isaiah 51:11). 
 
The Lord Jesus Christ has done this great work and He is gone to heaven shouting “victory” for “God is gone up with a shout; the LORD with the sound of a trumpet” (Psalm 47:5). 

He rose from the grave as a demonstrative proof that sin was destroyed, law satisfied, God honored, and His people eternally and everlastingly saved. What a great message!

A long time ago preacher Henry Law wrote about how the LORD JESUS must needs have the preeminence, all the glory, honor praise and thanksgiving. Listen carefully, friends:

"That page is the brightest, in which most of Christ is found. That sermon is the brightest sermon, in which most of Christ is heard. That life is the brightest life, in which most of Christ is seen ... without Christ religion is a sunless firmament; the home is no abode of peace; and prosperity is an adverse flood. Without Christ, birth is no boon, life is no gain, and death is a downfall into an unfathomable abyss ... Can I know this and not beseech men to make Christ their all?"

LORD JESUS, Be Merciful...

" LORD, be merciful to me: heal my soul, for I have sinned against Thee." -Psalm 41:4 [KJV] Is this the language of the man after God’s own heart? Was David a saint when he uttered it? Great Encouragement in Christ JESUS ~ 19 October, 2025 A.D.

"Behold, he prayeth!"   -Acts 9:11 [KJV] In many trades, it is customary to shew samples or patterns. By these men judge of the goodness or quality of the whole. St. Paul sets himself forth as a sample, or pattern, of the free, distinguishing, sovereign, unmerited grace of God, that we should judge of its nature by its efficacy upon him. “I obtained mercy, for this cause, that in me first   (-a first rate sinner) Jesus Christ may shew forth His all long suffering, for a pattern to them who should hereafter believe on Him to life everlasting”   (I Timothy 1:16.) Thou hast seen this pattern of free grace. What dost thou think of it?  The whole is alike with the pattern. It cometh alike upon elect sinners.
